The Scene

This Italian-inspired family-friendly restaurant is located in a small and unassuming plaza in the village of Dorchester, just east of London. Expect a welcoming bistro ambience, enhanced by the open kitchen, consistent with the quality of the culinary offerings. Knowledgeable and friendly staff staff will guide you through the less familiar territory on the excellent wine list, which includes exclusive and unique Italian wines that come from a consigner.

Menu Highlights

The cuisine is intuitive, with iconic menu items prepared with locally-sourced and quality Italian specialty ingredients, interpreted with skill and an eye towards tradition. Pared-down, uncomplicated presentation hits the flavour mark. Specialties include paninis, strombolis, freshly-made pasta, homemade sauces, and bruschetta flatbread, with tiramisu or cannoli with sweet ricotta for dessert. Signature dishes include a creamy, fresh semolina Fettuccine Alfredo with pancetta, herbs and Parmigiano, and a housemade semolina Rigatoni & Sausage, tossed with sweet pepper, caramelized onions, and a spicy tomato ragu. Crispy-coated Chicken Parmesan is served with a side of spaghetti in a rich tomato sauce. Other recommendations include:
Grilled Sweet Pepper Flatbread with smothered onions, mushrooms, arugula, goat cheese, and a balsamic glaze;
Pan-seared East Coast Sea Scallops on a saffron risotta with arugula and salsa verde;
Prosciutto Sandwich with pomodoro, mozzarella, balsamic glaze, and arugula;
Creamy Penne Pesto with Portobello, caramelized onion, toasted pine nuts, and Parmesan cheese.
