There’s a fresh well-crafted taste of a proud past in every glass, can and keg at Hamlet Hall Brew Co. The entire beer selection is inspired by historical Stratford personalities and area memories, and incorporates local ingredients from the vast surrounding agricultural community. The brewery is employee-owned by 10 workers, staff and management.
Many of the Victorian-era architectural details remain, including tin ceilings, decorative arches and columns, sandstone window lintels, and a parapet gable topped with finials. There is a welcoming, laid-back ambience, as you sip on your beer and enjoy a bite to eat beside the massive brewing vessels or on the sidewalk patio overlooking Market Square.
Beer & Menu Highlights
Brewmaster Jeff MacDonald and Head Brewer Jon Zippel utilize quality local ingredients in their innovative craft beer lineup. Dingman Dark Lager (named for The Herald newspaper proprietor) is a malt-forward lager that showcases local midnight wheat. Perth County Conspiracy APA (named to honour a beloved local band) is a hop-forward pale ale with reserved but perceivable bitterness. H2 Golden Ale (named to honour The Herald Building’s revitalization) has a slight haze and a discrete malt backbone. A creative pub-style menu is prepared by The Hub kitchen next door. The highly-recommended Chicken Wings come in a variety of flavours — many beer-infused — or try the Shaved Prime Rib Sandwich, topped with horseradish mayo and mixed greens.
