In 1992 Heather Pond-Manorome opened the Blue Elephant, serving up fresh local and international cuisine using ingredients from Norfolk’s renowned agricultural riches. Over the years it became a local landmark, consistently evolving the Blue Elephant experience. In 2012 the doors of the Blue Elephant Craft Brew House opened, Norfolk County’s first and only “Tied House” (Pub + Microbrewery). Blue Elephant handcrafts beers that employ the same commitment to fresh, locally-grown ingredients as the restaurant, which is Feast ON™-certified as an authentic taste of place in Ontario.
The Scene
One of the most idiosyncratic refined casual dining establishments in this neck of the woods, the restaurant is split into two distinct areas. The dining areas include The Thai Room, decorated with pachyderm-themed statuary and Asian accents. Another, Bell’s Room, features Pond-Manorome’s grandmother’s paintings. The more casual British-themed Pub serves lunch and dinner, and two outdoor patios are open in season.
Highlights
Menu offerings, made to order, are sourced from a wide variety of area farmers. Spent Grain Pizzas are signature items, utilizing products from the brewing process while being original and delicious.
Fresh ales, lagers, pilsners, and specialty brews are available on tap at the pub, and for retail sale in the Brew Store.
